Dr. Connell’s Girls* D&D Therapy Group

This groups will be for girls* in middle and high school

This in person group will focus on teaching members how to work as part of a team, build positive peer relationships, creative problem solving, and assertive communication skills.  No gaming experience needed! All tools needed to play will be provided.

*For this group girls is defined as those identifying as female, those assigned female at birth who identify as nonbinary, and transgender girls.

Winter 2024 Group

Dr. Megan Connell’s Applied D&D group, the Self-Rescuing Princess is back in Januaryl! 

This group focuses on helping face anxiety, learn boundary setting, assertive communication, and cooperative problem solving.  The first meeting of the group will help walk members through what the game is, how we play and what the expectations are within the game.  Follow up meetings will be focused on play and practicing skills, with processing interweaved when appropriate. 

There will be 2 sections of the 10-week group, one for middle school, and one for high school.

Space is limited to six participants.  The group will meet on Thursday from 4:30pm to 6pm for middle school and 6:30-8:00pm for high school starting 25 January and ending 28 March.  

No play experience is needed!  All needed materials will be provided.

Dr. Connell is a psychologist and author of Tabletop Role-Playing Therapy a Guide for the Clinician Game Master. She has been pioneering the use of tabletop gaming in therapy and specializes in running groups for women and girls.
